El Huevo y La Gallina es un proyecto editorial de investigación espacial multiplanos por María Isabel Rueda y José Sanín.
María Isabel tiene una obra titulada Al final del mundo. La obra es expansiva, informe y performativa. Un proyecto que es al tiempo un laboratorio de creación, una ópera espacial y una exploración de formas de vida.
En el proyecto, que se materializa en una presentación narrada en palabras y música, María Isabel plantea la posibilidad de espacios, o estados de existencia, donde la relación entre un positivo y un negativo se pulverizan. Aborda este espacio no desde una relación de opuestos en la que una cosa se define en oposición a otra, un relleno y un vacío, o una figura sobre un fondo, sino desde un espacio informe y etéreo en su fundición. María Isabel asemeja este tipo de espacio a un estado psicótico en el que se disipan los límites entre un interior y un exterior, se funden fondo y figura. Lo llama tornarse delicuescente.
“Duplica el espacio que lo rodea para ser poseído por sus mismo alrededores.” Este espacio pulverizado es un espacio de libertad y exploración.
María Isabel y yo somos amigos y trabajamos en conjunto en diversos proyectos que operan en la lógica pulverizadora que ella plantea. En algunos casos trabajamos con textos. Hemos desarrollado un método que nos gusta en el que un escrito se divide en dos columnas con el texto en cada una de ellas justificado hacia sus bordes exteriores. Al hacerlo se genera una figura en el centro. Tal como sucede cuando dos perfiles se miran de frente y en el espacio entre ellos se forma la figura de un jarrón. Esa figura que se genera no remite a algo específico pero es siempre extrañamente familiar. Esto es un juego entre el pensamiento y la forma lo cual genera, en su conjunción, una imagen especulable*.
“Hay una lectura que es la más antigua,
anterior a toda lengua.
Anteriormente,
antes de que comenzara el pasado nuestro,
había personas que leían las vísceras o las estrellas.
Leían señales, sonidos y cosas que hoy
nos parecen ingenuas, ridículas o descartables.
Leían con gran seriedad,
por decir algo,
las señales del cielo, rayos y relámpagos.
Los leían muy en serio
y esa lectura se llamaba augurio.”
El Huevo y La Gallina (The Chicken and the Egg) is an editorial project focused on multiplane spatial investigation by María Isabel Rueda and José Sanín.
María Isabel has a piece called Al final del mundo (At the end of the world). This piece is expansive, shapeless and performative. A piece that acts as a lab, a space opera and an exploration of extra-terrestrial life forms.
In this piece, which takes the form of a narration using words and music, María Isabel sets forth the possibility of habitable spaces, or states of existence where the relation between a positive and a negative become pulverized. She presents this type of space as somewhere not defined by a relation of opposites, in which something is defined by its contrary: something empty and something full, front figure and background. Instead, her proposal sets forth a shapeless and ethereal nature consequence of their binding. María Isabel resembles this to a psychotic state where the limits between interior and exterior dissipate, were front figure and background blend together. She calls this an action in which something turns deliquescent.
“It duplicates the space that surrounds it in order to be possessed by its surroundings”. This pulverizing action leads to a space of freedom and experimentation.
María Isabel and I are friends and work together on different projects that operate in the pulverizing manner she proposes. We usually work with texts and have developed a way to set them which we find interesting. We divide a piece of writing in two columns and justify the text in each of them towards its exterior limits. When this is done a figure emerges in the middle space between the two columns. Something similar to when the profiles of two faces are looking towards each other and an image of a vase is formed between them. The figure that is generated is abstract and strangely familiar. This is a game between thought and form which generates, in its conjunction, an image open to speculation.
“There is a form of reading that is the oldest,
prior to any tongue.
Before,
Previous to the beginning of our past,
there were people that read entrails and stars.
They read signals, sounds and things that today
Seem naïve, ridicule and disposable.
They read with great sternness,
To say something,
The signs in the sky, lightning and thunder,
They read it with great gravity,
And that reading was called an omen.”
